Vegans rejoice. A new all you can eat option is available. Curry Bowl's buffet. I lean more on the vegan side of the spectrum. I don't touch cheese but I make exception for ghee butter. I say that because ghee butter is part of many Indian entrees. If ordering a meal, you can request a vegan preparation. In many cases, that will be honored. I have been going to Curry Bowl for about 3 years and have a few videos about it on my YouTube showcasing regular entrees. Today, I must tell you about this buffet they just opened up. I've been to about 5 Indian restaurants in Memphis. The quality of this food when you taste it is noticeable. I have eaten Indian food across several states for many years. I really like their rendition of onion kulcha bread. The way this bread is made exceeds the quality of bread from any restaurant out there. Basically, it is like a small pizza without cheese. Just pizza style dough, onions, herbs and all made with healthy ingredients. This food has 5-star New York level quality in texture consistency, oil saturation, sauce and temperature. You feel the spices and healthy union of ingredients treat your mind, gut microbiome and overall being. Some of the items may have ghee butter which is known to have benefits for your gut. As you go for multiple servings from the buffet, you don't get that rapid full feeling that discourages you from trying more items. Instead, you can make several trips to the buffet and have an opportunity to try as many items as you want, comfortably. Unique to this visit was the ginger chutney. I never had that before and many know that ginger is a major health ingredient to boost the immune system. This chutney had the right balance of ginger, spiciness and sweetness. I like how all the chutneys were arranged. They are great dips for breads, pakoras and more. The people who work the restaurant are genuine and authentic. Nice, courteous and fully committed to excellent service. Has been that way for years. This was my first visit to the buffet after learning about it a few weeks ago on a visit to get some of that bread. They are closed on Tuesdays and the buffet on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday is about 5 dollars less at the time of this review. Friday through Sunday is the super buffet with more items and variety. Again, the taste, 5-star expert chef level precision, cleanliness, courtesy and healthy make of the food is what sets this restaurant apart from others of its kind. I can think of only 1 other Indian restaurant in Memphis that has this level of quality, but they don't have a buffet at this time.
Such a great meal and the family is amazing and totally accommodating! Highly recommend!! For reference, we've eaten at Indian restaurants in over 10 states in the US as well as in Singapore. We started with their honey & chili Gobi (butter fried cauliflower-just trust us on this) - this is now my favorite cauliflower appetizer! The flavors were on point and the cauliflower was perfectly crispy fried. We ordered medium heat and it came out more of a DIABLO level (OMG), but after talking to them about it, they made us a fresh dish at a milder level and it was absolutely delicious. Our entrée selections were chicken tiki masala and vindaloo chicken (both medium heat) and both were very good, excellent flavors. We tried butter Naan (bread) and cheese Naan (stuffed with mozarella). The butter Naan was half crunchy and half soft, so the best of both worlds. The cheese Naan was delicious! (different from paneer) During a conversation with the family, we ended up trying masala papad (crunchy cracker like base topped with a mix similar to pico de gallo) and it was SO good. It literally melts in your mouth. (I'm telling you, it's good!) The final thing we tried was vegetable uthappam (pancake style with a crisp bottom and softer top with vegetables cooked into it), this was also good. I loved the crisp yet airiness of the batter! All in all we can hardly breathe now, haha, but had an excellent meal with excellent customer care! We'll definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone who loved Indian food or wants to try it - just talk to them, they'll help you order. Enjoy!
The garlic and the chili naan were absolutely amazing. I got the shrimp maharaja, and the curry was really good. I hot it at the spicy level, and it was just right for me. My wife ordered the chicken tikki misala, and she said it was too spicy for her even at the lowest setting. I also tried a thumbs up drink. It tastes like coke.
The food is really authentic. Though it is a bit pricey but it worths the money. We try the chilli Nann, butter chicken, lamb and shrimp fried noodles and love all of them. They can be really spicy so make sure you chose the right one.
Curry Bowl is my favorite Indian restaurant in the world. I love going for the buffet so I can try lots of different things. The buffet has half vegetarian/half non-veg, so there are plenty of options whatever your diet.
The food has the best taste in the USA (I have tried at least 20 different Indian restaurants in States now). Their service is pretty good. The atmosphere is soothing. They may not have fancy looking walls but they have a very well mannered set of waiters. If you ever visit Tennessee, and want to taste some authentic Indian food at really cheap price, this place is a must visit.
Delicious food, vegetarian options were good !Buffet had lot of great food options!kids loved the food !Biryani was very yummy
